The fact is that the design of the laser mouse includes an infrared diode, which, through a system of two lenses, directs the laser directly to the sensor. This happens quite simply - the laser is directed at an angle of about forty-five degrees into a lens, which focuses the beam and directs it to the surface. Bouncing off the surface, the laser hits another lens located at approximately the same angle, and this lens already directs the beam into the sensor.
