Letterhead Design: The Complete Guide If you want to engage in any kind of business, you will need to fill out a company form. The problem is that although company letterheads often look simple, in reality their design (especially without a lot of design expertise) can be quite complex. Here we will look at the exact process you can follow to create a letterhead for your business. To show how simple it is, we can also create a letterhead template for a company. As you can see, it is simple, elegant, represents its mission and perfectly represents the brand. Know what information to include. This information depends on how your business is organized (for example, an individual entrepreneur, a company with an interconnected responsibility, etc.), so the axis that is indicated on the form for each type of business: Individual entrepreneur: Please be aware that there is other information you may want to include: Contact phone(s) You can earn it on paper or with your favorite music maker program. Significance of information hierarchy.
The next stage is the creation of an information hierarchy of this information. What is “information hierarchy”? Axis yak tse robiti: Krok #1 – Register with Trello
Registration is 100% cost-free and takes only a second. Just click the “Register” button to print your review. When you register, you will need to create a new account. You can do this by pressing the “+” sign on the top right corner. Naming your daughter is simple, but not unusual Now, if you have created a new board, you just need to add a list to the board, and then add all the information that you indicated in the first step, like cards. Note. Since you feel “old school”, it’s a pleasure to create a papier for your taste. Step #2 - Think about what's important Having said that, there are a number of pieces of information that are extremely important for all company forms. Tse: Logo Once you are close to the information about what information is most important, go to section No. 3. Lesson No. 3 – Organizing Information It is better to differentiate them from the most important to the least important. 1.Logo is very important because the powers that be are responsible for knowing who has the most reliable leaf. Color This should apply to your letterhead as well. If you already have a color palette for your company (like the one above), you don't need to do anything other than stick to it. If, on the other hand, you're not sure about your color scheme (perhaps your graphic designer never sent you a palette!), here's a neat trick for getting the color scheme from your logo: Insert your logo into Photoshop (or similar application) as follows: Then go to Filter > Pixelate > Mosaic: Choose a cell size around 50 and you'll get something like this: There you have it: a color palette you can use for your letterhead. As you can see from the image, our color palette is mostly blue, white and black, so we'll be sticking with those colors for our letterhead. Typography (eg fonts) Typography is another aspect to consider when designing your letterhead. Typically, most brands only use 2-3 fonts (anything more looks cluttered), so you just need to figure out what typography your brand uses and stick to it when designing your letterhead. If you're not sure, the easiest way to find out is to ask your graphic designer. Otherwise, you can use this neat trick to define your typography on your website: Install the WhatFont extension for Google Chrome. This will install the bookmarklet in your browser (circled in the image above). Now all you have to do is go to your website, click on the bookmarklet, and then click on any font. It will then tell you exactly what font is being used. Write down the fonts that are mostly used on your site and you're done. Now that you've decided on a color scheme and typography, it'll be easy to make sure your letterhead is on-brand. Letterhead Design Finally, it's time for the fun part: the actual letterhead design. As noted at the beginning of this guide, we will be designing a letterhead as an example, but you can create your own letterhead based on your personal information obtained in the previous steps. Let's start: Selecting an Application (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) The first step is to choose the application you will use to create your design. Clearly, the three most obvious options here are Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. It's up to you to decide which application you use, but in our opinion, Adobe Illustrator or InDesign are probably the best options for letterhead design due to their built-in support for bleeds, trims, and more. Photoshop is a little more difficult to customize since support for these aspects is limited, but you can see how to adjust Photoshop bleed/crop in this post. Print Settings (DPI, CMYK, etc.) This will create a document in your application of choice that is 100% ready to go. It will be set up for cutting/trimming and will also be the correct dimensions. If this isn't possible (or if you'd rather set everything up yourself), you'll just need to make sure your document is set up like this: A4 size (210mm x 297mm) + 3mm bleed on each side (this gives total size: 216mm x 303mm) This is a similar process in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Additionally, these applications make it even easier to adjust bleed areas. Get a Sketch To do this, all you have to do is take your list of things to include from your Trello board and sketch out a rough design (making sure you include all the elements). Note. Be sure to outline your letterhead roughly according to the information hierarchy you defined earlier. Don't worry if it looks a little rough and rushed, you just want a general idea of the layout so you can move on to the next step. Organizing Your Information To do this, start by placing the information on the form. Remember, you need to be mindful of your hierarchy when doing this, so use different font sizes and weights to create a sense of order and hierarchy to your information. As you can see, there is a hierarchy to the information that matches how we have arranged our elements in Trello. The logo is large, as is the phone number. Then the website address is a little smaller, and the rest of the information is even smaller (though even here, bold text was used to create hierarchy). You'll also notice that everything is written in Arial font (which is what we discovered earlier in the guide) to ensure the design stays consistent with the branding. Adding Color + Brand Elements All that's left to do now is add some much-needed color and any additional brand elements to the letterhead. We are choosing to highlight the blue color that we showed earlier in the guide, creating a palette of colors from our logo. At this stage you can add any other elements to the brand, such as mascots, images, images, etc. Now, everything that is no longer earned, save the form and send it to your friend! The final joy, as we would like to know, is that if you get to the design of the letterhead on the right , you will have to switch to a new enough place. So, the whole place of the letterhead lies in order to save the sheet, so you need to reconfigure what is the place for the new one. Therefore, keep your speeches simple, minimalistic and don’t let things go wrong! |
